Reclamation Districts

As flood control and levee stability come to the forefront of the nation's attention, Siegfried Engineering takes great pride in maintaining and watching over the levee's local reclamation districts. These district levees were designed and have been maintained by SEI since they became flood protection levees. The firm's staff has 50 years of experience dealing with the levees. Their expertise is what helps keep homes safe from flooding.

Reclamation District 2074 and RD 1608

Since the completion of the levee improvements for Brookside Estates (District 2074) in the 1980s and the levee improvements for Lincoln Village West (RD 1608) in the 1960s, the firm has:
  • Performed regularly scheduled levee patrols
  • Coordinated and schedule levee maintenance projects such as vegetation control, pest control and the repair of damaged levees
  • Monitored and policed construction activities of hundreds of residential lots abutting levees
  • Monitored levels of man-made lakes within the 1200-acre Districts for flood control purposes
  • Performed boundary, topographic and hydrographic surveys for use in District design and maintenance activities
  • In RD 2074 SEI completed a hydrographic levee assessment (conditions) with a multi-beam sounder in 2004. The hydrographic survey was to determine the extent and limits of erosion, sediment deposits and scouring.
  • In 2004, the firm designed and completed an erosion control restoration project on the levee in RD 1608.
